We interviewed Chahat and Sudhikksha who had won the best student design consortium paper award at the India HCI 2020 Conference. They talked about their experience writing a research paper as undergrad students and also presenting it at the conference.
We hosted the second seminar on AI for the Next Billion with HCI4SouthAsia. This is a seminar and workshop series where experts from diverse disciplines working on AI present and discuss their research and its implications on society and the world.
During the 6 months I was working in outreach, we saw more than 50% growth in the number of followers across all the social media platforms like
Instagram,
Linkedin,
Twitter and
Facebook. More than 40,000 people interacted with our content. All the interactions and followers were organic as we did not spend any money on boosting our content.
During this time, I realized the importance of having a mix of both professional and candid content on social media to make it more appealing to everyone else. More than 20% of the followers we gained on Instagram were because of the ‘Behind the Scenes’ reels we shared during the conference. The follower count across all platforms spiked when we shared videos of the people working for the conference.
